Community health, a field public health, is a discipline that concerns itself with the study and betterment of the health characteristics of biological communities. While the term community can be broadly defined, community health tends to focus on geographic areas rather than people with shared characteristics. The health characteristics of a community are often examined using geographic information system (GIS) software and public health datasets. Some projects, such as InfoShare or GEOPROJ combine GIS with existing datasets, allowing the general public to examine the characteristics of any given community in the United States.

Because health III (broadly defined as well-being) is influenced by a wide array of socio-demographic characteristics, relevant variables range from the proportion of residents of a given age group to the overall life expectancy of the neighborhood. Medical interventions aimed at improving the health of a community range from improving access to medical care to public health communications campaigns. Recent research efforts have focused on how the built environment and socio-economic status affect health.

A. The first question is if you are graduating from a BSN RN program. The US Public Health Service requires a BSN for all RNs who are hired into the job position as a Public/Community Health Nurse. Most BSN programs I have worked with in the past, have had, at least short rotations, to introduce the students to the roles of the Public Health Nurse. Many decades ago, when I was an undergraduate student, I spent almost 6 months working with the Public Health Nurses, on various elective rotations, such as the Public Health STD Clinic, the WIC Clinic, and many other areas, including the Public Health Motor Home which took the clinic to neighborhoods for screenings and infant/child immunizations. A. Undergraduate degree programs in public health are rare and it would be difficult to find a good job in public health with just an undergraduate degree. You need a master's degree to succeed in public health.

What is the role of media and technology in influencing and community health?
Q. ???

A. How media and technology influences community health? Well, technology obviously influences community health as technology plays a very big role in making it possible and easier to carry out a medical procedure. A dialysis machine, for example, is a technology which is being used to treat kidney failure. So definitely technology influences community health by making it possible to identify and cure diseases that were once deemed incurable. I believe that the role of technology is a very crucial part of medical health as i can't imagine any health practice which does not make use of technology unless u are speaking about mental health. Too many health practices are dependent on technology. Technology is even used to keep a 'vegetable'… [cont.]
