How many people are aware that money is irrelevant to society?
Q. Technology has made it possible for us to transition from a system of exchange, to a system of endless giving. We don't need money anymore. Now it's just acting as a barrier to technology and social progress. I was just wondering how many people out there are aware of this, I feel like its a pretty small number.

What do I need to be aware of when driving a car that has not been used for 6 months?
Q. My mum`s car (a Mercedes C class, 11 years old, low mileage) has not been driven for over 6 months and has just been parked in the road. Needless to say that the engine cannot be started, so I need to jump start it. As the car has been out of action for such a long time, what should I be aware of when I am driving around to charge up the battery? Am I safe to drive the car?

A. The brake disks will be a bit rusty and will make a scraping noise at first but that will very quickly go. Get the battery charged with a charger since unless you are going on a very long drive (many hours) the battery will not gain full charge and a battery left in a low state of charge will deteriorate quickly. It may already be a little damaged by the 6 months lack of use. Check and inflate tyres to correct pressure as soon as possible. Check that the wiper blades have not stuck to the screen and if so free them gently and not by switching on the wipers which may tear the rubber. Again, do not charge the battery by driviing around, not very cost effective. Take it somewhere to be charged. Otherwise, 6 months is no big deal and… [cont.]

Are people aware that the tax rebates the USA will be giving will make our national deficit bigger?
Q. Are people even aware of this? Why doesn't the government put that money back into making the national deficit smaller instead of bigger for? This is about those rebates that US government will giving out in May or sooner of this year.

A. Not necessarily. The money going to the folks will be spent. Businesses receiving consumer purchases will have greater profits. With greater profits, those businesses will hire more people. The businesses will pay more income tax on those greater profits and the people that get hired will pay income taxes. All these taxes go to the government. If you want Congress to make a dent on our deficit then why not get them to stop earmarks? In 2007 Hillary Clinton spent $340 million on pork projects; Obama $91 million on pork; and John McCain $0 (he doesn't believe in pork barrel spending) Boils down to who knows better how to spend your money, you or the government.
