when did massage therapists start being called massage practitioners?
Q. im working on my seior project that includes a 5 page research paper and i woud love to know if anyone at all would have an idea of when massage therapists started being called masage practitioners??? i dont need the month or day obviousl, but if you know the general year or possible time frame...

A. Each state has their own definition of what a person who does massage can call themselves. The first state to license massage therapists was Ohio I believe but I am not sure what they called massage therapists. You can check with the OH State Board for massage to see and take a look at how other states designate terms for people who do massage.

How are male nurse practitioners treated in the medical field?
Q. I'm considering becoming a NP. Im a male however, and am afraid about the image that may project about myself. I know I may seem a little silly, but I really need to know if male NP are looked down upon or made fun of my other female NP's. Such as in college. Do doctors look down upon you? This question has heavy stereotyping and I would like to give others the benefit of the doubt, but that's why I'm asking.

A. I know I'm probably not in the right demographic to be answering this question (Having a uterus and all) but I've never noticed discrimination against male nurses in the hospital I work at. In fact, male nurses are usually preferred by male patients (especially shy teens). As a student doctor myself, I've also never seen doctors look down on male nurses. It doesn't matter what gender you are as long as you do your job well, and have the charisma to interact positively with your patients.

A. I don't think there is anything wrong with being a male NP. I myself am trying to become a nurse and I wouldn't look down on you if you were in my class. As far as the doctors looking down on you there are doctors who would but most of those who do look down at female nurses too. But don't worry this is more of a personality thing that you will find in some one no matter what career field you go into.
