‘Abdu’l-Bahá (عبد البهاء‎) (23 May 1844 - 28 November 1921), born `Abbás Effendí, was the eldest son of Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith. In 1892, `Abdu'l-Bahá was appointed in his father's will to be his successor and head of the Bahá'í Faith.

His journeys to the West, and his Tablets of the Divine Plan spread the Bahá'í message beyond its middle-eastern roots, and his Will and Testament laid the foundation for the current Bahá'í administrative order.

`Abdu'l-Bahá's given name was `Abbás, but he preferred the title of `Abdu'l-Bahá (servant of the glory of God). He is commonly referred to in Bahá'í texts as "The Master", and received the title of KBE after his personal storage of grain was used to relieve famine in Palestine following World War I, but never used the title.

Are Superstitions Useful?
Q. Do you agree? Yes? No? Why? "'Abdu'l-Baha replied that superstitions were of two kinds; those that were harmful and dangerous, and those that were harmless and produced certain good effects. For example, there were some poor people who believed that misfortunes and punishments were caused by a Great Angel with a sword in his hand, who struck down those who stole, and committed murder and crimes. They thought the flashes of lightning were the weapons of this angel, and that if they did wrong they would be struck by lightning. This belief caused them to refrain from evil actions. The Chinese held a superstition that if they burn certain pieces of paper this will drive the devils away; they sometimes burnt these pieces of paper on board… [cont.]

A. right up there with urban legends... i've got a weird superstition that if i look at a clock and the time is all the same number, i have to stop and pray to God. like if it's 2:22 or 11:11... don't know why i do it, it's kinda quirky, but i feel compelled to give a little shout out to God if i happen to see the time portrayed like that...

Do you believe that magnifying the faults of others reduces divine blessings?
Q. In the Hidden Words, Baha'u'llah wrote: "O son of being! How couldst thou forget thine own faults and busy thyself with the faults of others? Whoso doeth this is accursed of Me." (Baha'u'llah, The Arabic Hidden Words) `Abdu'l-Baha taught that "the most hateful characteristic of man is fault-finding. One must expose the praiseworthy qualities of the souls and not their evil attributes. The friends must overlook their shortcomings and faults and speak only of their virtues and not their defects." ('Abdu'l-Baha: Tablet to Dr. M.G. Skinner, August 12, 1913: Star of the West, Vol. IV, No. 11, p. 192)

A. Yes it will hinder them, definitely. It will not affect the other person, it will only affect the magnifier.

The unity of the humanity?
Q. What can I really do even just right now to help, and take in part of achieving this holy duty? By raising awareness of all being brothers and sisters between all peoples of the world? Like showing love to everybody we see and communicate with? and letting everybody feel the heat of fire of our love? Or "when a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love." (Abdu'l-Baha) I want to hear your opinions, thanks for reading my question.

A. The best & most effect thing any of us can do is Be the change we want to see in the world in all areas of our life. Our actions, minute by minute, are the real teacher. What we do is screaming so loudly no one will hear what we say. Blessings to you!
